At the heart of Lujiazui Financial Trade Zone, Pudong, Shanghai, stood the Shanghai World Financial Center, one of the world tallest building. It not only installed with the world most advanced surveillance systems (CCTV), alarm system (BA), fire alarm system monitoring all areas, it also installed with the world most advanced and integrated access control system in the building. The system is able to automatically monitor and control at least 100,000 users movements securely and efficiently at 1,500 common entrances. The system is developed by Smartkey Singapore after taking 5 years of meticulous research effort, named SKEPS has now become world leading new generation security management platform. Modules included in SKEPS are Door Access Control System, Human Tracking System, Online Guard Tour System, Visitor Management System, Payment Management System, Lift Control System, Fire Exit Door Monitoring System and etc. At the same time SKEPS also integrate and interact with other security management system within the building like alarm monitoring, fast lane access control system.

The MS module (real-time monitoring) on SKEPS platform not only provide real-time transaction monitoring inclusive of user’s name, entry and exit date time and venue of everybody at every entrance, it also capable to monitor current status of all door points, fire exits and devices via its powerful electronic map functions. The icon display representing all door points placed on electronic map changes instantly according to the physical door status; double click on the icon will pop-up detail information. The entire Access Security System used at Shanghai World Financial Center has been divided into 100 over controlled region; each region has its own corresponded electronic map. Specially designed region association function facilitates operators to quickly switch from a large area to corresponding region. Different priorities level can be set to various monitoring points in order to give monitoring precedence on warning information that comes from important region.

SKEPS also integrated with DVR video monitoring system, enable camera icon to be clicked from electronic map to open video surveillance interface, real-time monitor situation of the corresponded access point. Through the flow control design, the system will automatically activate the video features when there is an accident such as door force open alarm occurred.

The Visitor Management System (VMS) used at Shanghai World Financial Center provides tracking and management on the entire visiting process by allowing visitor to make appointment booking online; receive admission card from card dispenser machine; automatically download accessibility rights to controller and automatically check-out when leaving the premises. Each time when an appointment is made online, a pin number will be sent to the visitor via SMS or Email. When visitor reaches the center, he/she will key in the pin number and waited for 4-5 seconds to get the admission card from the card dispenser machine. Visitor will then be able to make use of the card to access to their destination which has been assigned.

Human Tracking System (HTS) is able to identify the evacuation situation at every pre-defined region when an emergency occurred. The electronic map at HTS will be able to instantaneously display the numbers of people at each region and detailed personnel information, including names and departments. When the number of people in the region is over the predefined limits, an alarm will be triggered to prevent potential safety problems when the area is too crowded. A statistical report of a staff movement can be easily generated.

In the year 2006, Smartkey first time bead companies from the United States, Japan and many other renowned international security companies and became the sole company providing access control management solution and equipment to Shanghai World Financial Center. The first known massive access control system in domestic China comprise of 101 floors with 100 over tenants and more than 100,000 over daily access staffs, 300,000 over card transactions, move than 1,500 door points, 500 over monitoring units, 40 express access path and 32 rapid lift.
